The Ganong Nature and Marine Park at Todds Point is designed based on the principals of sustainable development. This includes 1) environmental protection and conservation 2) community use and 3) economic benifits. The park includes a year round trail and open space system for community day use including beach access and picnic sites and an extensive interpretation program on the natural and cultural history that engenders local pride and is the basis of a tourism destination The park is managed by an N.G.O conservation group (St Croix Estuary Project) that conducts research and provides interpretive programs for residents and tourists. The land was a gift to the community from the late Whiddon Ganong founder of Ganong Chocolates.
