The Greenwich Day Use Facility is based on sustainable development principles. The project features renewable energy systems (wind turbine and photo voltac), biological sewage treatment, orientation to provide a variety of outdoor spaces, local building materials, and architectural vernacular, low impact floating boardwalk access and a landscape restoration strategy. BDA recieved the 2001 National Merit and Regional Honour award from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and was nominated as a poster submission at the international ‘Green Building Challenge 2000’ in the Netherlands.
